TECHNIQUES APPLED
When making the poster in Photoshop, I used the quick selection tool to select and then I masked the objects to remove the background. Besides that, I also used the background eraser tool to remove the background for some images that has a plain background or a distinct difference in the colours of the object and the background. As I need to selected the limits to discontinuous and clicked the protect foreground colour before erasing. Besides that, I used adjustments modes to edit the brightness, contrast, curves, levels, and colour balance of the images. I also used the shape warping technique to change warp the gold lines to match my face and used the liquifying tool to edit a some parts of the lines so that it goes around the nose and the jaw.
In After Effects, I used the transformation toggles to edit the rotation, opacity, scale and position of the objects. Furthermore, I also used the glowing effect using the stylise presets and edited the glowing intensity, radius and threshold. I also used the puppet warp tool to distort the objects and make little adjustments to the flowers and butterfly.
REFLECTION
Throughout this project, I learned how to show my personal thoughts and emotions into a visual poster that reflects self-growth and acceptance, especially during a period of change in my life. Although deciding on the concept and visual direction took some time, seeking inspiration online helped me in the design process. I gained experience in combining elements from different images harmoniously and found it rewarding to see my initial sketch develop into a completed poster. Besides that, I was able to apply and explore technical skills such as background erasing, warping gold lines onto my face, and using animation techniques in After Effects. Overall, the project was an engaging and fulfilling experience that allowed me to apply what I learned throughout the module while expressing myself creatively through visual design.
