Digital Photography and Imaging

Project 4 : Self-Tilted



INSTRUCTIONS

Theme: Self-Titled


Self-titled is an exploration project for the students to express their own individuality and reflect their personality into digital art self-expression.

The main idea is to build up self-confidence and discover their interest.


There will be 3 parts of this project:


1. Part 1: Idea Development

    • Write a biography about yourself
    • Write a statement about your work
    • Search 3 moodboards that suits the style you're going for

2. Part 2: Design Direction

    • Create sketches of your mock up poster
    • Create digital posters based on your sketches - include progress shots

3. Part 3: Execution & Post Production

    • Import your Final Poster into After Effects
    • Develop the composition techniques using Digital Photography & Graphic Design
    • Animate your composition in After Effects
    • Include progress

4. Part 4: Submission

    • Include Poster as well as Artist's Statement
    • Include Video as well as Self Reflection
    • Include one (1) e-portfolio post including Artist's Statement & Self-Reflection
    • Submit 2 items in MS Teams:
      • Documentation in PPTX format
      • Final Output video in MP4 format

PROCESS WORK

I moved on to the research part of the slides, so I went on Pinterest to find some poster that I would like to take inspiration from.

After that, I started to sketch my ideas.

I decided to move on to the 2nd idea as I thought the background of the first idea wouldn't go well with the nature vibe from the garden and the butterflies. Besides, the 2nd idea with the cloud background could portray the ethereal style that I wanted to do, it also goes well with the overall message that I want to portray.

REFLECTION

This week, I moved on with the first part of the slides. From the research, realised that there are so many varieties of surrealism poster that has been made by other designers and it opened my eye towards the possibilities that I could explore. I had some problems with visualising the background and how the cutout of the head was going to look like. But in the end, I was able to sketch the idea I had.
