PROCESS WORK

In this week, I started editing the pictures I've took last week. From the 3 different background, I chose the one with gray mat as the base as I thought it was interesting and it didn't take the attention away from the object itself.

Using the speaker as the base picture for the whole photo manipulation exercise, I edited the brightness and contrast of the picture to have a brighter background.

After that, I masked the handle of the lint roller and added it to the speaker.

Figure 1.3 Attached the handle of lint roller to speaker ( combination Ver. 1), Week 8 (16/11/2025)

Looking at the outcome, I decided to try different ways to combine the two objects as I thought maybe there could be better choices. Firstly, I thought of using the body of the lint roller and substitute the hole of the roller to the speaker. I also added the SONY logo to the lint roller too. But it looked weirder than I thought it would.

Then I tried to replace only the body with the speaker while still using the hole of the lint roller. I also added the arrow from the lint roller to the speaker. Although this looked better than version 2, but it made the speaker very unnoticeable.

In the end, I chose the 1st version to continue for editing. Then, I added the shadow of the handle to the background and used gaussian blur to make it appear natural.

For week 8 I stopped till here and decided to do the further editing in week 9.

FEEDBACK

After sending the photographs I previously took on week 7 to teacher, he approved and said that I could continue on with the editing process.

REFLECTION

For this week, I didn't do much as I was thinking of other ways to combine the 2 objects. But I learned that how different composition gives different emphasis on the 2 objects. It was also interesting to see how replacing the round part of the speaker takes away the identity of the speaker. I was also able to apply the techniques of  removing elements in a picture, adding shadows and editing the brightness that I've learned from previous tasks.
